Alongside staff roles, I have worked independently across journalism, media projects and research in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. My freelance reporting includes on-the-ground coverage of the 2014 Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong, producing written and visual work that documented protest, public sentiment and civic impact in a fast-moving political environment.
I have contributed editorial and broadcast work to i24 News, Al Jazeera, e.tv News, Dubai Eye and Prime Media Broadcasting, alongside lifestyle and culture features for #Legend. My freelance portfolio spans live reporting, interviews, features, photography and multimedia storytelling, adapted to the editorial standards and audiences of each outlet.
I also worked as a freelance editor for AFP in Hong Kong on the sports desk, editing and compiling short-form multimedia stories for Sports Direct, delivering fast, accurate updates built for digital distribution.
I contributed to Open Source, the daily publication produced during the Highway Africa conference, reporting on media, politics and accountability across the African continent. Beyond reporting, I have undertaken due diligence research for iCover Europe, provided photography for Buddhist Door and Expat Asia, and worked as a research assistant to Professor Cherian George on his book Hate Spin, supporting academic research into media, power and political communication.
This body of freelance work reflects a career built across disciplines — journalism, research and editorial production — grounded in accuracy, judgement and the ability to operate independently across complex subjects and international contexts.
